Two-Day Introduction to Sand Tray Therapy in Play Therapy

This two-day webinar will explore the history of sand tray therapy and how the play therapist can apply this play-based intervention to clients across the lifespan. Participants will leave this webinar with a solid foundation of how to implement sand tray in play therapy sessions. Experiential learning will be used to help attendees learn how to integrate sand tray therapy in play therapy sessions with clients from all backgrounds. Time will be spent exploring ways to integrate sand tray in teleplay settings to maintain the integrity of sand in a virtual setting.

  1. Compare the difference between sand tray vs sand play therapy.
  2. Analyze how to properly set up sand tray in the play therapy room.
  3. Explore the historical context of sand tray in the play therapy room. 
  4. Develop adequate clinical skills to conduct non-directive sand tray sessions with clients of all ages in play therapy. 
  5. Identify the importance of symbolism and metaphor through the sand tray process.
  6. Examine the therapeutic value of sand tray play therapy
  7. Discuss the categories of sand tray miniatures to include in the playroom
  8. Assess categories of sand tray construction that may signal mental distress in the playroom
  9. Identify key information to include in play therapy documentation of sand tray sessions
  10. Explore cultural considerations when implementing sand tray therapy in play therapy sessions
  11. List DIY miniatures play therapist can create with clients in play therapy sessions
  12. Analyze ways to set up sand tray therapy for mobile play therapy sessions

Cancellations that are made seven days before the training date will given the option for either a refund less a $25 administration fee or a credit towards a future training. The refund amount will be for the amount paid for the training less a $25 administration fee.  All refunds will be mailed 60 days after request.  For persons requesting a credit, they will receive an individualized code for the amount to be used for a future training.
