February 26th, 2021 9:00am-1:00pm
From the death of a loved one to divorce and separation, children experience various forms of grief that, if left untreated, can negatively affect their health and development. This webinar addresses how the play therapy process can address grief and bereavement in children and adolescents. Attendees will leave this training with a better understanding of grief and how play therapy can help clients move towards emotional healing after losing a loved one. Time will be spent exploring themes in a child’s play that may signal grief and discussing play therapy interventions that can help address that behavior.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify the stages of grief and how it effects children and adolescents using a play therapy framework.
- Develop ways to engage families in the healing process in family play therapy sessions.
- Take part in specific play therapy interventions to use across the life cycle.
- Identify various cultural considerations in grief and bereavement.
