Who's the Boss? Play Therapy in Private Practice

Phase III: ​6 CEs - SPECIAL Topic
​* This training counts as 6 hours of APT Approved Training (2 hours of Skills/Methods & 4 hours of Special Topics)

This training is designed to help mental health professionals who are interested in focusing their private practice on play therapy. Participants will explore how to set up a play therapy office including playroom hacks for smaller space. Suggestions will be made on how to implement play therapy in the private practice setting on a budget, and ways to infuse evidence based play therapy techniques in all aspects of the therapeutic process.

Learning Objectives:
  1. Discover ways to support parents in understanding the benefits of play therapy.
  2. Develop play therapy techniques to use during the intake process.
  3. Analyze the benefits of incorporating play therapy into parent consultations.
  4. Assess the importance of parent/guardian engagement in the playroom during parts of the play therapy process.
  5. Prioritize essential items for the playroom (i.e., toys/supplies).
  6. Evaluate ways to set up office space for a playroom, with consideration to different challenges in the private setting (i.e. office space, and size).

Please note: *Attendees are reminded that registration for a training must be cancelled within 48 hours of payment in order to receive a FULL refund* To request a change to a training, please email us at stlplaytherapy@gmail.com. Cancellations that are made seven days before the training date will given the option for either a refund less a $25 administration fee or a credit towards a future training. The refund amount will be for the amount paid for the training less a $25 administration fee.  All refunds will be mailed 60 days after request.  For persons requesting a credit, they will receive an individualized code for the amount to be used for a future training.

Trainings will be held at: 1123 Locust St, St. Louis, MO 63101. All full day trainings run from 9 AM to 4:00 PM, with a lunch break between 12-1pm.  Please note that while many trainings are on Thursdays and Fridays, in an effort to accommodate requests, some trainings fall on different days of the week.
